Thursday, December 12th, 20204: BOIL ADVISORY LIFTED
Our water system recently experienced a drop in pressure which could have resulted in contamination of the water supply. Bacteriological samples taken 12/11/2024 showed satisfactory results and system pressure has been restored.
This Boil Water Advisory has been lifted. Big Mountain Water Company water supply had experienced a loss of pressure due to a main break. Water system personnel worked diligently to restore back to normal conditions. Your cooperation is still needed. Please adhere to the following water guidelines.
What should I do?
Flush all taps:
Run cold water at every faucet in your house for at least 5 minutes, including those used for drinking and cooking.
Start at the highest point:
If your home has multiple levels, start flushing at the highest point to clear out any potential stagnant water.
Empty and Clean any ice makers.
What is being done?
The water supply has been being temporarily chlorinated.
Bacteriological samples of the water were collected on 12/11/2024 and have satisfactory results.

Thursday, December 5th, 2024: BOIL ADVISORY STILL IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
This message is to inform you that the boil advisory continues to remain in place until further notice.
The process to lift the advisory requires system chlorination for a period of time, flushing of the chlorine (which takes time) and then testing. Unfortunately, this simply cannot happen fast and the health of our users is of the utmost importance. We are prepared for this process to take up to 7-10 days from yesterday (12/4/24) but we are doing everything in our power to make it happen faster. That said, there are steps that cannot be rushed.
We know this is a significant inconvenience, however, for the health of everyone, it is necessary. We appreciate your patience.
We will reach out the very minute we have notice that we are clear to lift the advisory.
Wednesday, December, 4th Update:
BOIL ADVISORY STILL IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Our crews worked diligently the past 48 hours on repairs to the water main. They were able to complete the repairs late last night, so service is back up and running. The affected, lower part of the system has been recharged and chlorinated. You may experience air, sediment, and/or a chlorinated odor during this period. Please note that the boil advisory remains in effect until further notice. Currently, samples are being collected to be sent for testing. We will release a statement when we are confident the system is clean and clear and the boil advisory is lifted.
Thank you for your patience and understanding! View Advisory PDF.
December, 3rd, 2024 – Water Main Break:
Early Monday morning our water system alarms alerted us to a situation that turned out to be a break in a 10” water main. Crews responded immediately and isolated the area within our water system. More crews arrived Monday morning to begin the excavation process to expose the broken section. As of this morning, the excavation and repair crew is onsite continuing that work.
The upper pressure zone of our water system never experienced any disruption of service due to this break. The lower pressure zone of our system has experienced loss of service or reduced pressure. Due to the break in the line, out of precaution, we implemented a boil advisory for homes and facilities within the lower pressure zone.
Our next steps are to complete the repair of the broken section, recharge the lower part of the system, chlorinate, test and bring the system back fully online. It is hard to put a timeline on those steps but we are working with the intent of having this complete within the next 24 hours. The full testing process could take longer and we will release a statement when we are confident the system is clean and clear and the boil advisory is lifted.
It is worth noting that the Summit House is on its own well and is completely unaffected by this event.
